Jersey
Nine miles by five, a castle on every corner and oysters with every view.
Jersey is the island that punches above its square mileage. A short hop from London and the other UK airports, and closer to Normandy than to England, it packs medieval castles, golden bays, a Michelin-starred dining room and a tidal range so dramatic that whole reefs appear and vanish twice a day. The food is fiercely local: rock oysters, hand-dived scallops, Jersey Royals and the famous butter, served everywhere from beach shacks to country-house dining rooms.
For planners, the scale is the selling point. Nothing is more than half an hour away, so a single day can run from a boardroom in St Helier to a RIB ride out to Les Écréhous and dinner inside a thirteenth-century castle, without anyone spending the afternoon on a coach. Hotels skew boutique, which suits leadership retreats and incentive groups of up to around 100, and the island's discreet, finance-friendly polish makes client entertaining look effortless.

May to September is prime time for beaches, boat trips and terraces, with June and September the sweet spots for weather without the school-holiday crowds. Spring and autumn suit meetings and dining-led programmes; many outdoor activities are tide- and weather-dependent year-round.
