Cape Town & Franschhoek
A mountain at breakfast, the Atlantic at sundown and the winelands for lunch. Jet lag not included.
Cape Town makes the rest of the world's waterfront cities look slightly underdressed. Table Mountain sits over the city like a stage set, the cable car lifts guests to the top in minutes, and below it the Atlantic seaboard runs from Clifton and Camps Bay along the Twelve Apostles. Down at the harbour, the V&A Waterfront brings hotels, galleries, restaurants and boats together in one walkable quarter. About an hour inland is Franschhoek, the valley settled by French Huguenots in the late 17th century, where wine estates sit beneath the mountains and lunch has a habit of becoming the afternoon.
For planners, it is the incentive classic for good reason: city and winelands in a single trip, strong value for European budgets, and a time zone just one or two hours ahead of London, so guests arrive on an overnight flight without the jet lag. Larger groups base themselves in the city and take the winelands as a day, with a hop-on wine tram, cellar tastings and a long estate lunch; smaller leadership teams split the stay and give Franschhoek its own nights. Fill the rest with a sunset on the mountain, a boat out of the harbour and a drive down the peninsula to Cape Point.

November to March is the southern-hemisphere summer: warm, dry and the best time to go, and conveniently it is Europe's winter. The grape harvest usually runs from late January or February into March, depending on the estate. Expect the strong south-easter wind in summer, which can close the cable car for the day. June to August is the wet, cooler winter, while October and April make good shoulder months. South Africa runs on UTC+2 all year, so it is two hours ahead of London in the UK winter and one hour ahead in the UK summer.
