Champagne on the canyon floor, home in time for dinner on the Strip.

Las Vegas Boulevard South (flights to Grand Canyon West and over the Strip) · $$$$

Champagne on a private bluff 3,500 feet below the Grand Canyon rim, then a sunset run back over the Strip: Maverick is a personal favourite and an operator we know well. Its Airbus 130s seat up to seven, whole aircraft can be booked for privacy, and a dedicated group team handles anything from 21 to 500 guests a day.

Good to know

The Wind Dancer runs about 2 hours 20 minutes in total (around 45 minutes' flying each way and a 30-minute landing); the Wind Dancer Sunset is about 2.5 hours with a 30 to 40 minute landing, and its departure moves with sunset. Published prices start from US$599 per person for the Wind Dancer, US$629 for the sunset version and US$139 for the 10 to 12 minute Vegas Views Strip flight, and vary by season and demand. Grand Canyon flights carry up to seven guests per aircraft and Strip flights up to six; booking every seat makes the flight private. Group tours are run by a dedicated group sales team for 21 to 500 participants a day, and the terminal at 6075 S. Las Vegas Blvd, half a mile from the hotel corridor, has private meeting and event space for groups of up to 100. Private charters on the Sikorsky S-76 take up to eight guests, with published starting prices such as US$10,500 to Bryce Canyon and US$14,400 to Monument Valley. Practicalities: seating is set by weight and balance at check-in, so parties are not guaranteed to sit together; the maximum weight is 300 lb (136 kg) per person for Las Vegas and Grand Canyon West flights, and anyone over must buy an extra seat. Children under two may fly on a lap with proof of age, everyone else needs a seat, and under-18s must fly with a parent or guardian. Guests 18 and over need a physical REAL ID or passport; Grand Canyon guests must check in 45 minutes before departure. No changes or cancellations within 72 hours of the flight.
