The Grill
The room that gave the world the power lunch. The prime rib arrives on a trolley.
The Seagram Building, 99 East 52nd Street, Midtown East · $$$$

Major Food Group's chophouse in the former Four Seasons Grill Room, inside Philip Johnson's landmarked interiors at the Seagram Building. For client dinners there are two private rooms on the balcony, the Salon (15 seated) and the Gallery (22). For something bigger, The Grill and The Pool next door can be bought out together for up to 300 seated or 650 standing.
“your dinner (or power lunch) should feature enough tableside preparations to blur the lines between restaurant and theater.”
Private dining at The Grill: the Salon seats 15 (20 standing) and the Gallery seats 22, or up to 37 across both rooms. The Grill and The Pool can be bought out together for up to 300 seated or 650 cocktail-style, and a cocktail reception in The Grill followed by a seated dinner in The Pool is a published format for up to 300 guests. The Pool Lounge takes 60 seated or 120 standing on its own. Enquiries go through Major Food Group's events team. Lunch runs Monday to Friday and dinner Monday to Saturday, so check Sunday availability for events. The dress code is strict: no shorts, open-toed shoes, tank tops, athletic wear or baseball caps, so put it on the invitation. Corkage is $110 per 750ml bottle ($220 per magnum), and more than three bottles needs arranging in advance.
